Ein Tag für Geschichten

The National Read Aloud Day is Germany's largest reading festival – an initiative that invites people of all ages to take time: to listen, to dream, to come together. Every year in November, thousands of volunteers read aloud from their favorite books in schools, day-care centers, libraries, and at special locations – to awaken the joy of reading and to make the value of stories tangible. The event has also been firmly anchored in Siegen for many years: with a public reading in the auditorium of Gymnasium Am Löhrtor, a strong signal is set – for education and imagination.

21. November - Bundesweiten Vorlesetag im Gymnasium am Löhrtor (GAL) in Siegen.

Wilnsdorf/Siegen, October 2025 – On Friday, 21 November 2025, Krückemeyer GmbH will participate for the 18th time in National Read-Aloud Day at Gymnasium am Löhrtor (GAL) in Siegen. This time she brings actors Greta Krämer and Yoran Leicher as volunteer readers onto the stage of the auditorium, who have just completed filming together as lead roles in a season of 'Club der roten Bänder – Die neue Generation' for Vox/RTL+. Greta Krämer was last seen in the acclaimed feature film 'In die Sonne schauen' (winner of the Cannes Film Festival 2025 & official German submission for the 2026 Oscars) and Yoran in 'Mädchen Mädchen' as well as the series 'Die drei !!!'. Moderator Klaus Krückemeyer will again guide the event.

In an era of TikTok, Reels and fast-paced screen entertainment, traditional reading is increasingly falling behind. At the same time, language skills, imagination, and the ability to grasp complex content are more important today than ever. This event aims to show that reading aloud is not only something for young children, but that stories can touch everyone. The combination of well-known personalities and a familiar school setting should lower barriers, spark curiosity and foster lasting joy in literature. The Krückemeyer GmbH campaign highlights the importance of reading and reading aloud—not only for young children, but explicitly also for students in the lower grades.

The National Read-Aloud Day is an initiative of Stiftung Lesen, DIE ZEIT and the Deutsche Bahn Stiftung and will take place in 2025 for the 22nd time. Under the motto 'Reading aloud speaks your language' the unifying power of reading aloud takes center stage this year. The Krückemeyers were able to secure contact for the project through Meike Stangier (former GAL classmate) (costume designer), connecting them with the two rising talents of the German film scene for the project:

Greta Krämer

Greta Krämer was born in 2004 in Berlin and has been in front of the camera since 2023. She appeared in the TV crime dramas "Polizeiruf 110 - Sie sind unter uns", "Küstenrevier – Tödliche Nachbarschaft" as well as in the short films: "Dad Air", "Wo wir wohnen" and "Wolke Z". In addition to acting, she is also musically active and a dancer.

Yoran Leicher

Yoran Leicher, born in 2005, grew up near Cologne and began taking acting lessons as early as ten years old. Soon thereafter, he appeared regularly on camera and on stage. His first lead role was in the award-winning feature film „Zu weit weg“, which was honored nationally and internationally with numerous awards. Additionally, he appeared on the big screen in „Liliane Susewind –
Ein tierisches Abenteuer“, „Gut gegen Nordwind“ and „Der Tiger“, as well as in TV/Streaming productions such as „12 Tage Sommer“, „Das Haus der Träume“ and „Die Welle“.

Klaus Krückemeyer

The Siegen-born Klaus Krückemeyer is a host, actor and author — for many years with Radio Siegen, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Hessischer Rundfunk, and funk. He is currently writing his first screenplay and is looking forward to the world premiere on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Theater Paderborn of his stage adaptation of "Oh Boy" based on Jan-Ole Gerster's film. As the director of RadioLiveTheaters, he successfully brings radio plays to the stage, and on Sunday, April 26, 2026, he will also perform with the crime live radio play "Der Hexer kehrt zurück," loosely based on Edgar Wallace, also at the Apollo Theater Siegen.

While traditionally it is more common for children in daycare and primary-school age to be read to, the event at GAL makes a conscious statement for cross-age reading promotion for students in the lower grades of GAL as well as Spandauer Schule and the FCS Grundschule An der Weiß. "Reading is the key skill of all – especially in the digital age. Those who love books understand the world better. Therefore we must not stop inspiring older children and adolescents to engage with stories," emphasizes Jan Krückemeyer.
Since 2006, the two former GAL students, the brothers Jan and Klaus Krückemeyer, have organized the National Reading Aloud Day in Siegen on a voluntary basis. The initiator was Reinhard Krückemeyer, their father. After his death in 2007, his sons continue the engagement with personal commitment – in line with the family and corporate philosophy of taking social responsibility and supporting young people.
